MENTAL MASTURBATATHON #5

In the wake of “Adolescence” and its surrounding hubbub - Male loneliness is in trend, we’re all talking about it, the hip new thing. It’s a real crisis, but not in the way that contemporary media is portraying it.

For millennia, the human instinct has been to survive, and our purpose as a pawn majority has been to serve god, king and country. Now, in the last two centuries, humanity has lost both purpose and instinct. Alienation is all-pervading; you are no longer working to “survive”, you are working to feed the very idea of work itself, and there is less and less opportunity to truly find purpose in the things you do to make a living. This impasse is where many on the right have seen an opportunity to engage the unpurposed and downtrodden men of this world to seek their answers from the past, to once again dedicate themselves to god, king and country under the guise of some sort of cure for loneliness, when in reality, these dedications are simply projecting fear into hatred. This combination has proven fruitless and disastrous for all but those in power throughout history. While the forecast is bleak, it’s the perfect opportunity for the left to truly organise and to engage the unpurposed in assembling new means of human congregation that work to serve all of us, as opposed to the interests of a limited supply of reactionary pigs.

A blistering phenomenon in the wake of these contemporary developments is the “Manosphere”, a central nervous system of influencers, entrepreneurs and other malaligned cretins that actively fraud the unpurposed. The Manosphere in general looks to solve modern man’s alienation with the invention of a new god, A god of hustling, hypermasculinity and unsatisfying sexual conduct. The core of this god is a so-called “return to traditional values”, or a move towards extreme misogyny sold as the future.

Leftist Commentator “Shaun” has a fantastic video, deconstructing Andrew Tate and other key figures in the Manosphere. Highly Recommended Viewing.

As always, these issues are consequences of Neoliberal policy stunts half a century ago. Systems of community that once provided purpose & promise are being broken down by piss poor governmental decisions. Libraries, community centres and even pubs, which have provided ample opportunities for recreation and community development, are being shut at record rates. Your neighbours are being replaced by Airbnb’s- empty housing reserved for tourists because it’s easier to shakedown a sightseer than it is to rinse a human being. This, combined with digital communication and the pandemic, has culminated in mass outbreaks of Loneliness. Loneliness isn’t an issue that is exclusive to men. Gendering and segregating the issue is disengenious and harmful- this great disenfranchising all equally impacts women, men and them, and it’s only going to get worse.

There’s an abundance of cries for real solutions and real change waiting to spew forth in reaction to the great disenfranchising. This feeling is one which needs to be nurtured to effectively coalesce and allow for change that is truly revolutionary and worthy of the 21st century to occur. Every day, working people come into conflict with the aspects of the all-pervading system around us and are becoming increasingly angered. Class struggle and conflict as a reaction to this system are inevitable, but a movement with any chance of success can only develop through collective, unified actions. We should understand from this that the collective consciousness will not be activated spontaneously by some divine intervention from Marx, or Che Guevara, neither will mass inspiration come from an artist like Joe Strummer plucked out by the grace of existence; it can only be activated by the existence of dedicated revolutionary communities, capable of agitating, educating and organising. To this end, those who want change must be dedicated to change; they must be active and exciting to bring in advancements to our situation; we must be dressed to the nines, recognisable and distinguished, to encourage others to express themselves thusly. Mass individual liberation comes from collective action, and liberation is one hell of a purpose.

This protest poster is one of many posters that were discarded after the Boston Women's March held on January 21, 2017. The posters were rescued by faculty from the Northeastern University College of Arts, Media + Design, who organized a two-day event to digitize the posters.

It is the top priority of our alternative revolutionary communities to facilitate the development of the scene in a way that sees inclusivity being held in top regard; however, it is imperative to maintain that inclusivity should not mean passivity. Too many alternative communities have naively allowed abusers to run rampant, the development of a real alternative scene is to be different, truly different, by policing itself. While interpersonal relations can be a web of miscommunications and messy situations,  most individuals are capable of rational discussion to solve their issues between eachother, however, there are individuals, known and otherwise who frequently take advantage of others, and are allowed to run rampant from one scene to the next with little to no consequence. To ensure that inclusivity is protected is to ensure our community’s justice,

If you are in any way capable of defending others who can’t defend themselves, I Implore you, that you must remind abusers that they are not unnoticed; the sheer fact that you stand up to the terrible will make them, at the very least, hesitate the next time they step out of line.
